How to stay balanced in the canter
I observed last week that while I was cantering, my butt was going here and there and I thought I was going to fall off. It wasn’t the front or the back, it was the side that I was concerned with. I had a thought about it, and I remembered Yannis telling me that there’s a problem with my balance. So today I searched on YouTube for videos focusing on keeping oneself balanced while cantering. And I found the one that follows: The lovely lady here says that stomach is very important. The problem is that, I have never taken my stomach into account when it comes to riding!

Getting to the canter
Last Wednesday Laura showed us how to canter. The problem is that, when the horse freaks out and canters itself, I am relaxed and enjoy the ride, but when I am asked by an instructor to get to the canter, I get panicked and lose balance. Tonight I decided to get over my fear and give a message to my subconscious that there’s nothing wrong with going faster with a horse, as far as I know what I’m doing. Back in the saddle: Who says it’s always pleasant?
The Easter break is over at last, and lessons in the Trent Valley have resumed for our riding club. I was excited and looked forward to working on my trot and also hoped I could learn how to canter -which happened unexpectedly. What is more, I planned to speak to Laura about my thoughts about getting to the BHS helper certificate over the summer. But Wednesday’s session was not ideal.
