We are in the magazines!
Hi again! While battling with my last readings and deadlines, our ladies from the University of Nottingham Equestrian were putting hard work to promote the inclusive sessions for disabled students that they have been organising his year -making the disabled students happy and grateful. The article, featuring on two British magazines on activities for the disabled PosAbility and ONTRACK has the title “Inclusive Riding Sessions: Engaging Mind and Body”, highlights the positive impact of our equine therapy sessions on students’ long-term physical and mental conditions in higher education. And if you like my face, you’ll see it on one of the featured pictures -haha. But even if you don’t like my…

UoN RDA reach their minimum goal on Jumpstart!
On our way back from Scropton yard, we learn terrific news! The University of Nottingham RDA group have reached their minimum target amount on Jumpstart, the university’s first crowdfunding platform. This means that they will be granted all the money they have raised at the end of the campaign, and this is exciting! As a Jumpstart Co-ordinator, I feel particularly proud of them, because their project is actually our first-ever one! I would like to thank everyone who donated or spread the word. Let’s give the team a final push to their main target, 1,000 British pounds, of which they have secured 30%. Let’s get as many cute volunteers as possible to RDA…

Urgent pledge for the University of Nottingham RDA group
Hi! It is my honor to have been chosen to coordinate Jumpstart, the first platform that raises awareness about the student-run projects of the University of Nottingham, which are at the core of our University’s engagement in the local communities in all three countries where UoN has campuses (United Kingdom, Malaysia, China). It was to my excitement to be informed that our first-ever campaign belongs to the University’s RDA group, of which I am a member! Our group is part of the University of Nottingham Equestrian Club and is amongst the most active volunteering groups of the University at the moment. RDA stands for Riding for the Disabled Association, a…

A hack inside Sherwood Forest
Hi, horsey people! Sorry for the absence, things have happened at Uni. You guessed it right, its full name is Too Much Work! I had to work out how to do my last essay, plus figure out how to complete -and submit in time– the ethical review form for my MA dissertation. Today I’ll write about the nice experience I had with the uni’s equestrian society in Sherwood Forest last weekend. The day did not start well, due to a minor setback due to which I was supposed to miss the ride. In the end, I was allowed to participate, for which I’m extremely grateful, but I wasn’t in the best of…

March Inclusive Session at Scorpton
In general, I try to stick to our RDA’s Inclusive Riders’ session, held once a month at Scorpton RDA Riding and Driving Centre. This month’s session took place last Wednesday, with a really cold weather and my mood was strangely funny. I don’t know what caused this, I just remember forgetting my whip in the classroom after the Contemporary Warfare seminar and finding myself in the awkward position of having to disturb the next class to retrieve it, with the professor and his students left watching me puzzled pull a 60cm red whip from the chair which was resting right underneath the table! Maybe it was also my funny cheap, but very…

Improving!
Hello! I would like to speak tonight about the lesson I had with the uni at Trent Valley. It was a perfect day for riding in Britain: not too cold, not too warm. At 11:00, two cars full of girls -and one boy- set off from University Park to the equestrian centre to learn amazing things! Emma would be our instructor for the day. Emma was a member of our equestrian society until last year. She graduated a few months ago and now she does what she likes. As a learner, I believe that Emma’s special skill is her fun and challenging exercises. Her lessons are not just about riding…
