					<description><![CDATA[Hi! I hope you have had a great summer! I don&#8217;t know about your place, but here in Crete it&#8217;s hot, very hot! And when it&#8217;s so hot outside, one wants to relax and find ways to entairntain oneself. So, I searched for something entertaining, enlightening and age appropriate. And there you go, I found &#8220;The Horse Dancer&#8221;, which&#160; I enjoyed very much. Samantha Wick, a promising teen gymnast, is informed that she hasn&#8217;t made it to the American Olympic gymnastics team. Her grandmother, a former champion in gymnastics herself, pays for her grand daughter to join a summer camp in Black Water Horse Camp. Due to her highly competitive nature, the girl faces behavioral issues, which have led her to a life with no friends. She carries those issues to Black Water and soon realises that they can make her life in the camp very hard. The programme will gradually change her attitude to the better, helping her open up to other people. Yet, apart from a new attitude, she will earn new skills, which are riding and equestrian vaulting. Having appreciated the value of friendship, solidarity and gratefulness, Samantha will use her new vaulting skills in a joint effort to save the equestrian centre from bankruptcy. * It is true that &#8220;The Horse Dance&#8221; is a low-budget film which has received mixed reviews. And if you are looking for impressive effects and fit equine silhouettes, then I suggest that you should look elsewhere. Personally, I appreciated the strong messages that the movie tries to deliver; the value of friendship, the importance of collaboration and the advantages of asking help in times of need are just a few of them. It is a movie that I strongly recommend for a family night in, or, why not, a special evening at the yard after a gymkhana day. So, I would advise you to go for it! 					<description><![CDATA[When I saw Canada on a photograph, I was intrigued by his jet black color and big height (17hh). When I met him just before the beginning of my second year in my MA course, I realized that he&#8217;s an intelligent and sensitive four-legged gentleman. Yannis offered him for part-ownership and suggested that I should consider becoming one of the four owners. With one more year to go in Britain -and the costs going with it- my circumstances were not the right ones at that moment, and when I returned to Greece all Canada&#8217;s parts had been bought. It was not until last February when Yannis announced in the last social of the club that two parts were available and I grabbed the chance, of course. I have now owned him for two weeks, and despite the fact that he has already managed to buck me off (thank you, my beloved, expensive helmet), I still love him very much. Canada and Yannis appear on a film which is being prepared to expose people of our area who are passionate about what they do. 					<description><![CDATA[This week I realised that I hadn&#8217;t seen any equestrian films for quite long now. So, last night I made time to watch the film &#8220;A Horse for Danny&#8221;, released in 1995. The story is about an 11-year-old girl who lives in a caravan in an American racecourse with her uncle, Eddie, who makes a living from training race horses. Everything runs smoothly, as Danny wakes up early in the morning, hangs around with adult friends in the racecourse and places bets before heading to school. Until she saw a troubled but gorgeous thoroughbred, Tom Thumb, being brought in violently in the competing stables. She falls in love with him and, disregarding his disappointing performance at racing, she believed in that horse and did everything to acquire him. With her betting savings, and the contribution of a befriended groom, Gerald and Uncle Eddie, her dream comes true. After very hard work and dedication, the Thumb surprisingly begins to win races and bring earnings. But, not everything is as rosy as it seems, as the team is sabotaged by the boss of Thumb&#8217;s breeding farm, and  a colleague of Eddie&#8217;s. I absolutely loved the photography of the film. Of course, it is quite visible that it&#8217;s a 1990&#8217;s movie, but even the colours contribute to the beauty of the story. And, if you like gaining life lessons from films, you might love the concept of successfully going against the odds, using your intuition and caring for others.Of course, it is a film which a family can watch in a great Friday evening inside. It is the moving story of a child which, after getting his dream horse, has to face alone a series of family hardships, such as his grandmother&#8217;s death and confiscation of his home soon after that . The boy decides to sell his horse to make ends meet and live in the stables of the wealthy businessman who bought him. The real action begins when the boy saves his horse from being shot and begins a long journey on horseback to meet his father in New York city.
