War Horse: The Real Story – Documentary
The two world wars keep being of interest to flm directors and their audiences. All those heroic actions, enriched with more heroism and quite many effects and colours are always exciting. But few of them describe the real horror and suffering, the real impact of the wars on people’s life. And, especially, the story of the cavalry horses, whose riders had to face the first products of the defence manufacturers. Really, how many of us have imagined ourselves in the saddle with bullets whistling by our heads, bombs exploding around us and a four-legged comrade scared to death underneath us? My new riding whip
To reward myself for going through successfully a quite harsh year, and to celebrate my first year as an equestrian, I ordered a great whip from Amazon. Urgent funding plea: Let’s help one of the University of Nottingham riding clubs
The equestrian club of the Sutton Bonington campus of the University of Nottingham has been involved in the Mars (the brand, not the planet!) Milk Play Fund, in order to fund its horseball activities and represent the university in British national university championships. The club is in urgent need of equipment and money to fund their lessons and horse training and have entered the scheme for a small grant. One thousand pounds might not sound enough for the size of their project, but “every little helps”, as the motto of a British supermarket chain says. Sutton Bonington is an isolated campus hosting a number of agronomic, veterinarian and food science…

How is a western saddle made?
Tonight I wanted to see how a western saddle is made. The western saddle is quite different to the English one, as it is custom-made, with a horn at the front for the ropes and several layers of leather, to offer comfortable riding to the western cowboys. This sort of saddle is made to last for many, many years. It’s so complicated, it blows my mind! But, above all, a western saddle is definitely a piece of art, which is worth some extra effort! Here’s a short video which shows how a western saddle is made:
